GEWar v2 is an interactive game built using Google Earth. The game is both simple and incredibly complex at the same time, it will provide you hours of fun and entertainment. All you need is Google Earth and a web browser.

The basic idea of the game is this:

You build armies to go around the world capturing and then defending cities. The cities all have a value, which is based upon their population. The total value of all of the cities in your control is called your "total value". The person with the highest "total value" is the one that is currently winning the game.
Armies (and other items) can be purchased using "Geos" that you earn by selling resources and jewels that you collect all over the world.

What's New?

Completely new game code and layout including a community portal where you can interact with players from all over the world.
Oil is not only a resource to earn geos, but necessary to move armies.
Uranium resource is used to construct nuclear weapons which are fired from silos you build in your cities.
Armies gain experience with every fight they win
Separate training level boot camp for new players
New market to trade resources and nukes
Fish added as a resource

So grab your friends, form an alliance and conquer the world!

After Richard Nixon announced the escalation of the Vietman War into Cambodia on April 30, 1970, students in universities across the country began protesting the war in earnest. Kent State students had rallied on May 1st peacefully on The Commons. Later that evening, riots broke out in town and about 100 protesters were dispersed by police. On May 2nd, arsonists lit fire to the ROTC building on campus, pelting firefighters fighting the blaze with rocks and destroying their equipment. Kent's mayor had already reached out to the governor to declare a state of emergency on campus, the first guardsmen arrived late in the evening, arrests were made and order was restored. On May 3rd, another protest was dispersed by the troops and a sit-in in downtown Kent was broken up at 11 P.M. that evening. On May 4th at noon approximately 2000 students gathered, 77 guardsmen with little training in crowd control advanced on the students with bayonets fixed on their weapons, the crowd retreated and began to break up. As the troops began tor retreat and regroup, a small group of hooligans advanced on them pelting them with rocks and spent tear-gas containers. Noone knows for sure what happened next, but 29 of the 77 troops opened fire for 13 seconds, a total of 67 rounds were fired.

Accepted theories about man causing global warming are "lies" claims a controversial new TV documentary.

'The Great Global Warming Swindle' - backed by eminent scientists - is set to rock the accepted consensus that climate change is being driven by humans.

The programme, to be screened on Channel 4 on Thursday March 8, will see a series of respected scientists attack the "propaganda" that they claim is killing the world's poor.

Even the co-founder of Greenpeace, Patrick Moore, is shown, claiming African countries should be encouraged to burn more CO2.

Nobody in the documentary defends the greenhouse effect theory, as it claims that climate change is natural, has been occurring for years, and ice falling from glaciers is just the spring break-up and as normal as leaves falling in autumn.

A source at Channel 4 said: "It is essentially a polemic and we are expecting it to cause trouble, but this is the controversial programming that Channel 4 is renowned for."

Controversial director Martin Durkin said: "You can see the problems with the science of global warming, but people just don't believe you - it's taken 10 years to get this commissioned.

"I think it will go down in history as the first chapter in a new era of the relationship between scientists and society. Legitimate scientists - people with qualifications - are the bad guys.

"It is a big story that is going to cause controversy.

"It's very rare that a film changes history, but I think this is a turning point and in five years the idea that the greenhouse effect is the main reason behind global warming will be seen as total bollocks.

Found a great site http://www.nationmaster.com that has a mortality statistic page. What are mortality statistics you may ask? You can see the death rate per million population for handguns, rifles & shotguns, beaten to death, assault by sharp objects, (hahaha remember Monty Python and the pointed stick) knife, sword, or dagger, (thats where the post title comes from) even death by acne (who knew?). Anyway, I guess my point is we have a lot of people in the USofA, so it just stands to reason that we have more wackos than other places. It's a shame that we as a nation are ostracized internationally for our stance on personal firearm ownership. Gun control is not the answer, law abiding citizens aren't out shooting their neighbors. It is those who break the laws, or have mental disorders, that shoot innocent people. And yes it is a shame when people (especially children) are accidentally shot by weapons that were not properly secured, IMO any person who leaves an unlocked loaded weapon where a child could access it should be held criminally liable.

The other day my neighbor, who is blond, came running up to me in the driveway, just jumping for joy! I didn't know why she was jumping for joy but I thought, what the heck, and I starting jumping up and down along with her.
She said, " I have some really great news!"
I said, "Great! Tell me why you're so happy."
She stopped jumping, breathing heavily from all the jumping up and down, and told me that she was pregnant!
I knew that she had been trying for a while so I told her, "That's great! I couldn't be happier for you!"
Then she said, "There's more."
I asked, "What do you mean 'more'?"
She said, "Well, we are not having just one baby. We are going to have TWINS!"

Neil Peart is the drummer for the band Rush. This is a vid from their 30th anniversary tour back in '04. Just another drum solo? The amazing thing about great drummers is the ability to have all 4 limbs work completely independently, this is a great example of this skill. The truly incredible part happens with about 2 minutes left to the video when he switches on the drum triggers (he uses Roland V-Drums) and reproduces an entire swing orchestra. WOW!

As promised, yet another installation of the life and times of Jr. In my last blog, I mentioned a tradition called “Turkey Last Dance.” Apparently, this has caused quite a stir. Since several of you have asked Jr to describe what that is, I will now go into greater detail of the early times of “Turkey Last Dance.”
As a child, on Thanksgiving morning, my mother and I would dance around the kitchen with the bird before it went into the oven. It was still in the plastic, and we wrapped it in a kitchen towel (all you fellow germ-a-phobes, it’s o.k.) Well, a couple of years ago, I took this concept to a new level. I decided that the proper time to do this was the night before, aka Thanksgiving Eve. The tradition is as follows.
Everyone arrives and enjoys cocktails and hors d’oeuvres (yes folks, there is alcohol involved.) From there, we introduce the bird. We wrap it in a kitchen towel and pass it around so everyone can get to know the turkey, from there, we name it. One year we discovered it was a hen so we named it (what else?) Selma Salmonella. Last year we named the bird “Peaches” after my mother (I will not go there.)
After the ceremonial naming, the dancing begins. We play songs like “Last dance” , as well as other appropriate (and inappropriate tunes.) One year we had a conga line outside. This year, we bowled with Peaches. We set up water bottles for pins and down the hallway it went. (That was the most tender bird I’ve ever had.) When I tell people this story they look at me like I have nine heads, after all, who dances with dead poultry? But I have a feeling this is going to catch on, and others will soon be doing their own versions. Next year, we are planning something with a catapult, stay tuned, it’s going to be a hoot!

OK, I sent my best friend a link to the blog and she has requested equal time... So I present to you, unedited her first in what she promises will be an ongoing soliloquy of the life and times of me... BTW, THE DUCK is my favorite pub/hangout.

When Bob first showed me his new website, I decided I could not go on silently. There are things the world should know about Bubby. We’ll start there. No one calls Bob “Bob.” It simply is not his name. 98% of the world calls him “Jr.” 1% (who are not in the know) call him Bob. 1% calls him “Bubby”, that 1% is me. So for all of you who now know, you will begin calling him “Jr.” It may seem strange at first, but trust me, he will respond.
That being said, you all need some background. Jr is from the north (Massachusetts to be exact) which makes him a Yankee. He’s still a great guy, but now you all know the truth. I would ask that you all still speak to him anyway. Jr was transplanted to Texas due to a tremendous job opportunity. I am now hoping he will open a diner. He makes the best beer battered fish I have ever had (and I’m not a girl that misses a lot of meals.) If any of you are reading this from THE DUCK, have him make you fish some time- outstanding!
I think I’ve given up enough for now. There is so much more to come. You see, Jr is a fascinating creature who has had many adventures. Future blogs will feature “Nights of buffoonery”, “The great freezer incident”, “Turkey Last Dance”, and “How to meet your best friend while on a survey.” Some of these tales will frighten you, some will astonish you, but I promise, they are all completely true.

She was born 8 weeks prematurely and through research funded by the March of Dimes, after spending 35 days in Neonatal Intensive Care, was able to come home and is doing famously. Carbon Offsets
The new liberal buzz words that should drive any rational thinking person absolutely insane. The premise is that you can be as ecologically irresponsible as you want to be as long as you donate to organizations that are not. IMO, this is just a way that those who would have us believe they care about global warming try to back door sheeple into believing their baloney.

Speaking of global warming, does anyone else remember the start of Earth Day back in the 70's? Does anyone else remember the signs warning of the impending ice age? The same junk science that 30 some odd years ago had us all freezing to death now has us melting. Pretty ironic.
